Do I need any prior experience?

No prior experience is required. The courses are designed for beginners aged 9 and above who are willing to practise consistently and improve through regular, guided practice.

Flourishing is the exception. It asks for a script you are already fluent in.

What materials do I need to start?

Most of the required materials are included in your course kit and are shipped to you before your classes begin. If any additional items are needed, our team will tell you in advance.

The full list for each course sits on the Fees and Materials page.

What if I miss a class?

Because learning is personalised, your progress is tracked individually rather than by batch. If you miss a session, your learning resumes from the point where you last stopped.

Up to three missed sessions may be adjusted during the course. Frequent or extended breaks may require additional sessions at extra cost.

Are classes live or recorded?

All classes are conducted live on Zoom and include real time guidance and personalised feedback from the mentor.

Recordings are not provided, as the learning experience is interactive and practice based. Students are encouraged to take notes and practise regularly between classes.

How much practice is expected?

Thirty to forty five minutes of daily practice. With mindful, patient and consistent practice this is enough to build strong skills and make steady progress through the course.

Will my handwriting improve?

Calligraphy is different from handwriting, but the skills learned through calligraphy often lead to better writing habits.

We believe your handwriting should first be clear and legible. Once that foundation is in place, calligraphy helps you add artistic expression, rhythm and elegance to your writing rather than simply making it look decorative.

Do I get a certificate?

No. The work you can produce at the end of the course is the record of it.

When does the next batch start?

Brush Pen offers rolling admissions, so you can join at any time after speaking with a mentor and confirming the current learning schedule.

For Copperplate, Devanagari and Flourishing, admissions depend on mentor availability and course readiness. Connect with a mentor to discuss the next available start date.

Can I join from outside India?

Yes. International students join the same batches, at Indian Standard Time.

Is there an age limit?

Brush Pen is open from age 9, Devanagari from 11, and Copperplate and Flourishing from 14. There is no upper limit.

Can I take two courses at once?

We do not recommend taking two calligraphy courses at the same time, especially as a beginner. Each script has its own letterforms, angles and movement patterns, and learning them together can interfere with muscle memory.

Focusing on one script at a time leads to stronger fundamentals and better long term progress.

What is the refund policy?

All course fees are non refundable once your enrolment is confirmed. Please enrol only if you are able to commit to the course schedule and the practice it requires.

If you discontinue the course after attending one or more sessions, the remaining fee is not refunded.

Is there any assessment or final submission?

Yes. Student progress is assessed continuously through in class exercises and homework submissions.

At the end of the course you complete a final submission that demonstrates the skills and techniques learned during the programme. Personal feedback is provided at every stage.
